Scharffen Berger $25,000 Grand Prize Contest (It’s an adventure)
$25,000 grand prize. Scharffen Berger chocolate (any type).
Category: Sandwich cookie. Deadline: January 2, 2013

What makes this contest especially interesting is the list they call “adventure ingredients.”
Sounds so much nicer (read: not off-putting) than exotic ingredients (which Midwest types outside the big cities tend to avoid…or not be able to find) ROFL.
For more details…go to the Scharffen Berger Facebook page or contest web site.
The contest got me to thinking about this recipe (which I’d been planning to try for Thanksgiving):
Sweet Potato and Chocolate Cream Bars
While pumpkin makes the Scharffen Berger list, surely sweet potato and yams (which can also be paired with chocolate, hence the above recipe) would count as “adventure ingredients” too?
Update 10/29/2012: Re-reading those rules, it turns out sweet potato IS an adventure ingredient…NOT pumpkin.
Good. there are other adventure ingredients that I like more– like coconut milk and cacao nibs. Still this gives me the incentive to retrain my taste buds for loving the beta carotenes.
Now just to figure out how to adapt something like this into a sandwich cookie. Whoopie pie? Macaron? Shortbread? Ganache?
Cuz that $25,000 Grand Prize is just the thing this fledgling business needs about now.
